Welcome to The Prep
Lower Primary
Lower Primary (Years 1–2)
Building on the curiosity sparked in kindergarten, our British-aligned curriculum gives every child a strong and joyful start. Small, mixed-ability classes mean teaching is personalised to each child’s pace and interests, with most subjects led by a familiar class teacher. Each student sets personal goals with their teacher — shared with parents, so the whole family is part of the journey. By Year 2, children leave Lower Primary confident, capable, and ready for what’s next.

Life in Our Prep
At Cheltenham College International School Kuala Lumpur, Prep students grow into independent, curious learners — building confidence in themselves and in the world around them.
Co-Curriculum Life
We welcome parents as active partners in school life. Classroom timetables and information boards keep you updated daily, while our monthly e-newsletter brings school moments straight to your inbox. Curriculum workshops give you the chance to connect with staff, meet other families, and understand exactly what your child is learning, and how to support it at home.
Academic
From Year 1, our goal is simple: make children love learning. Topics often launch with themed immersion days; activities, dressing up, hands-on exploration that brings subjects to life and spark genuine enthusiasm. As children progress through Prep, teaching becomes more structured, with specialist teachers introducing languages, PE, and other subjects alongside their class teacher. We follow the Primary Programme while staying flexible enough to personalise each child’s learning journey through thematic and project-based approaches.
Beyond the classroom, a wide range of clubs and activities gives every child the space to discover new interests and develop skills they didn’t know they had. By the time they reach Upper Primary, students are increasingly responsible for their own learning and ready to step into Cheltenham Secondary with confidence.
