Welcome to Lower College

At Cheltenham College International School Kuala Lumpur, Lower College is where students discover who they are becoming. Combining academic rigour with rich co-curricular opportunities and genuine pastoral care, we support every student through one of the most formative chapters of their education, from childhood into adolescence.

Lower College spans Years 7 to 11, an intentional space for students to develop leadership, take on responsibility, and build the intellectual curiosity and character they’ll carry forward. By the time students transition to Upper College at the end of Year 11, they do so with confidence, not just credentials.

School Day Schedule

Our school day runs from 8.00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday.  With optional paid after-school programmes available into the evening. Our extended school day is thoughtfully structured to balance academic learning, creative exploration, and play, giving children a genuinely rounded daily experience. Students follow a broad, British-aligned curriculum suited to their stage:

British Secondary Education

The British curriculum is built to develop skills that last well beyond school like critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and the ability to communicate with confidence. Qualifications earned here are recognised by universities and institutions around the world. Students choose between core and extended pathways across many subjects, allowing teaching to be appropriately challenging for every level of ability. Whichever route a student takes, the qualifications carry equal value and the skills gained carry even further.

Welcome to Lower College

At Cheltenham College International School Kuala Lumpur, secondary students grow into independent thinkers and compassionate leaders, making them ready to take on the world beyond school.

Co-Curricular Life

We believe a truly well-rounded education can’t be confined to the classroom. Our extended school day is designed to give every student genuine access to sports, clubs, and enrichment activities, not as add-ons, but as a core part of school life. Inspired by Cheltenham UK’s rich sporting heritage, our students compete across a wide range of sports at all ability levels.

Academic Extension

We encourage students to go beyond the syllabus. Academic Extension activities include society meetings, debating, and educational visits that deepen subject knowledge and build the kind of intellectual curiosity that stands out in university applications. For many students, these are the experiences that define their time at Cheltenham.

Community and the Environment

Community service is part of who we are. Students are actively encouraged to contribute to the local community through outreach and charity initiatives, developing empathy and a genuine sense of responsibility. Our school is also designed with sustainability in mind. Students learn to be environmentally responsible through hands-on projects focused on conservation and sustainability by developing a connection with the natural world that stays with them long after they leave.

Higher Education & Careers

From Year 10 onwards, every student is supported by our dedicated Higher Education and Careers team.

Through career talks with staff, parents, alumni, and industry professionals, students gain valuable real-world insights to help shape their future. Whether aspiring to leading universities or pursuing a different pathway, every student is guided to discover and achieve their own version of excellence.
